Octopi Crochet
A girlfriend of mine commissioned 8 Octopi from me so she could make a mobile for her lil girl.
I tried to make each one different and quirky. Om have lil crochets balls for eyes, some have simple magic circles, and others are just free form stitched on. Add quirky pupils to a couple as well.
The Youtube tutorial I used to make the first one is now set to private. :(
This lil guy is pretty close to that tutorial though. I just free hand stitched in some eyes.
I basically just make amiguri balls for all of their heads, except for the long green one. I used This tutorial to make that one.
Even though I didn't follow this pattern, this video inspired the look of the pink Octopus/jellyfish hybrid looking one. I made the generic ball, sc 8 in a magic ring, picto'd all those 8 stitches and make the tentacles from there. Then stitched that piece to the head.
And for the lil green stubby one, I used this pattern . I used the larger circumference pattern for the tentacles. This was the most difficult and time consuming of the lot!
For the others I combined techniques and did different lengths of the heads. Mixing yarns gave neat effects too. I decided not to give the purple one any traditional tentacles. I wanted it to look more like a lil Dumbo octopus instead!
